BOBBY ELLIOT JOINS FLASHBACK!
Yes, it does seem that Phil, sporting his new shaved-head-and-hat image, looks a lot like the drummer with The Hollies. He plays a lot like Bobby, too...
So many of you have been asking how Phil is that we thought we’d publish a picture to show that he’s still playing with us, and has only missed one gig so far. The stand-in that night was Steve Jackson, who did such a good job, that we decided he can fill in while Phil has his op, probably in June. The only side effects of Phil’s medication so far are that he gets tired very easily, and has become (even more) scatter-brained. Perhaps that explains why we drove back from a gig recently with a roll of carpet in the front cab of the van.... Odd.
Where did you get that hat?
HELLO, IS ANYONE OUT THERE?
Well, since we launched the message board in November the response has been, well, underwhelming. It seems that too many of you feel that you don’t want to leave us a message - or perhaps you’re afraid that we will abuse you verbally in our reply. It’s alright, don’t be scared. We don’t bite. Hard.
On our travels we meet many people, people who come time and time again to see us play, even though we don’t learn any new songs, and the patter is still the same old rubbish. Many of them become our friends, and we enjoy ourselves more when we see them at a gig. So, we’d like to send our love and best wishes to Jane, who has missed a few of our shows recently, because she, like Phil, is battling The Big C. Get well soon, Jane.

It took a reminder from some good friends/fans/stalkers (thanks, Den and Sue!) for us to realise that we hadn’t updated the website for a while, so, there is a diary update on the diary page (Duh!), and news that Phil is doing well and waiting for the date of his op sometime this month. A more complete update will follow shortly. Honest.
Somebody pointed out recently that most of the photos in our Gallery pages are from The Cavern or Beatle Week. Well, there’s a perfectly good reason for that - those shows are the ones that are most likely to contain our friends in the audience, who are willing to share their pictures.
Well, to restore some balance, we have a rather good series taken earlier this year by an old friend, Geoff Standish, at a show in Wakefield, including some very rare pictures of us in waistcoats and ties! Also shown to good effect is our “Cavern” backdrop. They are to be found in the Live Shots pages of the Gallery here
THE CAVERN CLUB COMES TO YORK!
When we first announced that powerhouse drummer and all-round gadget man Phil had cancer, one of the first reactions we got was from Liverpool. We got a call from our mate Jamo - Dave Jamieson, who organises the Sunday Mersey Rats shows at The Cavern; he had been contacted by all our musician friends over there who had immediately offered their services to come over to York to play a show in aid of Cancer research and related charities. Needless to say, we were quite touched (no comments, please!)
This was quickly followed by a call from Ray Johnson, events manager at Cavern City Tours, offering his services too (he’s a pretty nifty sound man, and worked the desk a couple of years ago at The Atombeat Festival in Alloa).
Because we are pretty crap at organising (our “orgy in a brothel” party ended up a bit of a damp squib), we
decided to enlist the help of good friend Kirsten, who is brilliant at such things. Actually, she’s so good, she told us that she was going to organise it, got in touch with Jamo, organised a suitable date and venue, and lined up some possible sponsors, all before we could finish our beer...er....Horlicks. Now that is quick!
DETAILS
Artistes confirmed appearing on the night, then, are the following: The Original Undertakers, The Mojos, The Shakers, The Media, The Spidermen, Ian Watts, and, of course, us!
The show will be at The Duchess, York, on Sunday 25th October, further details on ticket prices etc will follow, so watch this space - it proves to be a rockin’ night!

A lot of you have been asking how Phil is, and meeting our ace stand-in, Steve Jackson, at gigs, but for those of you who haven’t had chance to see us recently, we sent our undercover photographer into the field recently to try and capture some candid shots of the lesser-spotted stickman in his natural habitat. The results can be found here
