Here are a few of our favourite Beat Music-related sites on the wonderful interweb. Have a look - there are some beauties in there!
The Cavern Club, Liverpool
Need we say more? If you don’t know what The Cavern is all about, then you’ve stumbled on this site by accident and must leave immediately, probably back to “Practical Yoghurt- Knitting.com” or something similar.
Johnny Silver and the Come Together Band
These guys are brilliant - a refreshingly different take on the “Beatles Tribute Band” thing, concentrating more on the solo years. With Johnny Silver as Lennon re-incarnate, left-handed rickenbacker Paul, and a great AV show, what more could you want?
Kingsizetaylor.com
This man has seen it all. The Beatles at The Star Club? He was there. Still going strong and to be seen rocking it most Sundays at The Cavern. This site is where to go to find out what’s on at The Cavern every Sunday night. Get down to the Sound of the Sixties - the atmosphere is unbelievable!
The Savage Young Beatles
Packed full of rare photos, recordings and even some film footage (yes!) of The Beatles before they were famous. I thought I knew just about everything about The Early Years until I came across this site!
Fab Guitars
Haven’t got Andy Babiuk’s book on Beatles Instruments? Then this is the next best thing. Comprehensive list of the successive guitars of John, Paul and George (Ringo is soon to follow!)
Hofner Guitar Miscellany
Known to Hofner buffs simply as “Steve Russell’s site” this is by far the best and most informative site on Hofner guitars and basses. If you want to know anything about that old guitar your dad gave you, look no further.
Merseybeat Nostalgia
Remember - Merseybeat was definitely NOT only about The Beatles! Here we have a selection of the other bands involved at the time, together with photos and sound clips galore. Not sure of the line up of The Dennisons? This is the site for you!
The British Beatles Fan Club
Still going strong after all these years!
The Macca Report
Detailed, comprehensive news on what the Messiah has done, is doing and is going to do. Great concert reports, a blow-by-blow account for each one. Jorie Gracen is just as big an anorak as us!
The Beat Magazine
If it's 50s, 60s & 70s music you like, it's a MUST. Every month, a magazine packed with articles, photos and readers’ contributions - specially designed for followers of the best era in musical history.
Cleveland Music
If you’re a band looking for work on Teesside, or someone to record your audio or DVD, then we recommend this company. It was they who got us the Whitby gig supporting The Fourmost, way-hay!
The Shakers
The Shakers are another four lads from Liverpool who authentically recreate the look and the sound of those Liverpool days and Hamburg nights, from the Cavern to the Star-Club. Covering the period 1960 -’64, this fab beat combo perform the hits, misses, B-sides and lost classics from that golden age of Merseybeat. And they’re mates of ours as well, so why not plug their site?
The Prellies
Mad as hatters, The Prellies play early Beat Music fast and hard - almost as good as us!!! Expect forgotten and unrecorded classics from the Beatles massive 1962 set list like 'Red Sails in the Sunset', 'Aint She Sweet', 'What'd I Say' and 'Shimmy Shake' . Just don't expect any Beatles songs.
